In 2026, I worked with aspiring filmmaker  Grace Barber on her short film, "Who's There"

"The music was great, it really matched the atmosphere! It reflected what I had envisioned from the inspiration I sent you. The sound built tension and displayed the genre excellently! The process of working together was very easy, and you were able to apply feedback and create the music really  well! "

BIO - Extended

Jacob Howard is a Leeds-based composer and multi-instrumentalist whose work excels at the intersection of modern electronic synths and deep-rooted classical tradition. Known for a signature 'crafting the sound' approach, Jacob combines modern indie synths with organic orchestral textures to discover the emotive heart of every narrative.

Jacob’s versatility is grounded in a rigorous musical foundation. His experience spans the narrative spectrum, ranging from scoring a national broadcast drama for BBC Radio 4 to performing in prestigious venues such as York Minster, Durham Cathedral, and St Paul’s Basilica in Venice. This history with impressive acoustic spaces and world-class ensembles—including the Gabrieli Consort —informs his ability to craft scores with immense scale and atmospheric depth.

A dedicated collaborator, Jacob brings a unique character-first and narrative hierarchy perspective to his compositions, informed by his background in Musical Theatre and his performance as Jean Valjean in Les Misérables. His technical mastery is backed by advanced graded certifications in Classical, Pop, and Musical Theatre, alongside choral tutoring from Miranda Wright(Royal College of Music).

Currently refining his craft at Leeds Conservatoire, Jacob views the score as an extension of the cinematographer’s lens. By bridging his technical background in filmmaking with a diverse palette of choral, brass, and electronic influences, he creates bespoke, high-production scores that elevate the visual language of independent cinema.
